A Day Closer received an email a couple of weeks ago from Jon. Jon was referred to A Day Closer by a Montana State Agency. His email read that he recently was released after 27 years and needed a few items to get him up and running as a returning citizen.
His wish list was not grand; his most significant need was clothes he could wear to a job interview. We were so happy he reached out to us and that we could assist in his desire and mission to integrate successfully back into society. A Day Closer mission is to help reduce recidivism. Most people who re-offend do so out of desperation. We want to help remove that feeling of hopelessness by keeping families connected and by giving people hope and relevance by knowing we believe in their desire and willingness to succeed.
Jon received his items a few days ago just in time for an upcoming job interview. His gratitude and feeling of hope in his thank you message was such a gift to A Day Closer. We believe in you, Jon, and we are happy you are home.
"Thank you so much for the items you sent me. They came today, and I got a call back from a possible job opportunity. Now I have proper clothes for my interview! You don't know how much this means to me. Thanks again!"
